The United States Department of Agriculture (USDA) has approved a third extension of the free summer meal program through December 31, 2020. This extension allows all students ages 18 and under to eat free breakfast and lunch at schools.
The United States Department of Agriculture (USDA) has approved a third extension of the free summer meal program through December 31, 2020. This extension allows all students ages 18 and under to eat free breakfast and lunch at schools.
Currently in Dalton Public Schools, six of the schools are 100 percent free for all students. These schools include Blue Ridge, City Park, Park Creek, Roan, Dalton Middle School and Morris Innovative High School.
This latest extension will include Westwood, Brookwood, and Dalton High students to receive free meals.
If parents have paid for lunch during the first week at Brookwood, Westwood or Dalton High School, the accounts will be credited for those purchases.
The National School Lunch Program is a federally assisted meal program that operates in public and private schools as well as residential childcare institutions. It provides nutritionally balanced, low-cost or free lunches to children each school day and is administered by the USDA at the federal level.
