I've worked with many players and coaches during my long career. I grew up in Nashville, TN, and played high school tennis and volleyball at Stratford High School, then I went to Austin Peay State University. As a sophomore, APSU started a softball team and everybody was a walk-on including me. My friend, Jan Sadler Pippin, a UT Knoxville heptathlete (now the head track coach at Montgomery Bell Academy), told me about the field of athletic training. The next year I transferred to UT Knoxville and joined the Lady Vols athletic training staff. There I traveled with the UT volleyball team, worked spring football with the UT Vols, and during my last year in 88-89, I worked exclusively with the UT Lady Vols basketball team, earning a national title! After graduating from UTK, I worked for a physical therapy company as an athletic trainer at Central High School in Knoxville. I married my husband Brian, and we moved to the North Georgia area. I took a job teaching and athletic training at Dalton High School, the first athletic trainer at Dalton High School, and in this area! After two years, I kept teaching but took a part-time job with The Center for Sports Medicine and Orthopaedics and still currently work with multiple high school teams and Chattanooga State Technical College. After 7 years and 2 children, I went to Northwest Whitfield High School and taught and counseled for 20 years, then I taught at Westside Middle School for 2 years. During that time I joined Hamilton Sports Medicine also working with various high school teams. I retired from education after 29 years and still do part-time athletic training and have a college counseling business.
Some of the many players that I have worked with include Dianne Shoemaker DeNecochea-UT volleyball and pro indoor and beach volleyball, Keith Delong-UT football and San Francisco 49ers, Antone Davis-UT football and Philadelphia Eagles/Atlanta Falcons,UT trainers Tim Kerin, Jane Steinberg, and Jenny Moshak, UT Coaches Pat Summitt, Mickey DeMoss, and Holly Warlick, Bridgette Gordon-UT basketball/Olympic gold medalist and Florida A&M coach, Daedra Charles-UT basketball and LA Sparks, Sheila Frost-UT basketball top scorer, rebounder, and shot blocker, Dena Head-UT basketball and Utah Starzz, Todd Helton-Central High School and UT baseball and football/Colorado Rockies, Dalton High School coaches Bill Chappell and Ronnie McClurg, Kit Carpenter-DHS and NC State football/DHS coach, Matt Evans-DHS football/US Naval Academy and DHS coach, Josh Robinson-Southeast High School football and Northwest Whitfield High School football coach, Ladd McConkey-North Murray High School and UGA football/LA Chargers, and Isaiah Mack-NWHS, and UTC football/TN Titans to name a few!
