Dalton, GA — Dalton High School is excited to announce a shift in its academic scheduling to better serve students and prepare them for future success. Beginning in August 2025, the school will transition from its current A/B block schedule to a true 4x4 block schedule, where students will take A classes during the fall semester and B classes in the spring.
This new schedule is designed to enhance learning outcomes and provide students with opportunities for growth, exploration, and preparation for life beyond high school.
Why the Change?
Improved Focus and Depth of Learning: By taking only four courses each semester, students will be able to concentrate more fully on their coursework. This streamlined approach helps them dive deeper into each subject, resulting in better understanding and retention of material.
More Flexibility and Opportunities:
Students will have the flexibility to explore a wide range of electives, participate in dual enrollment programs, and pursue advanced coursework, all while meeting graduation requirements.
Preparation for College and Careers: Many colleges and universities operate on semester schedules similar to the 4x4 model. Transitioning to this schedule will help students develop time management and organizational skills that are critical for success in higher education and the workplace.
Balanced Workload for Students: With fewer classes to juggle each semester, students can better manage their academic, extracurricular, and personal responsibilities, reducing stress and increasing engagement.
