Dalton High School is proud to announce the addition of JJ Trowell as its new softball coach. A former Dalton High scholar-athlete, Trowell brings a strong background in athletics, academics, and leadership to the program.
During her time at DHS, Trowell excelled both on and off the field. She was a four-year scholar-athlete and played a key role in the softball teamβs success, competing in the state tournament all four years and helping secure a region championship in her senior season.
As team captain in 2017 and 2018, she earned First Team All-Region honors, was named to the All-Area team, and received an All-State Honorable Mention in 2018. She was also selected to represent Team Georgia in the Tennessee-Georgia All-Star Game and received the Gold Glove Area Coachβs Award. In addition to her softball achievements, she served as the baseball team manager throughout high school and earned an associate degree from Dalton State College through dual enrollment.
Trowell continued her academic and athletic success at Reinhardt University, where she made the Presidentβs List every semester and earned Academic All-American honors for two years. She was named AAC Player of the Week, graduated from the Honors Program, and received the Champion of Character award.
Beyond her playing career, Trowell has devoted herself to coaching and player development. She has served as the program coordinator for Dalton CATS Softball and as a coach and director of softball operations for the Force Elite Foundation. She also previously worked as an assistant coach at both Dalton High and Hammond Creek Middle School.
Currently a first-grade teacher at Westwood Elementary, Trowell brings her passion for leadership and excellence to the classroom as well. She is also preparing for an exciting personal milestoneβher upcoming wedding this October to her fiancΓ©, Will Anderson.
Dalton High School is excited to welcome Coach Trowell and looks forward to the impact she will make on the softball program.
