DALTON, GA — In just its first semester of operation, the Dalton Public Schools Cyber Academy is already delivering powerful results for students—proving that flexible, student-centered learning can accelerate success, open doors, and change lives.
Launched this school year, the Cyber Academy currently serves 175 students and has exceeded early expectations by helping students graduate early, recover credits, and earn college coursework—all within its inaugural semester.
Among the Cyber Academy’s first-semester accomplishments:
24 students successfully graduated in December of 2025
23 juniors advanced to senior status, positioning them for early graduation through the Apex program
15 students secured dual enrollment with Georgia Northwestern Technical College and Dalton State College, earning college credit while completing high school this spring
“These results are extraordinary—especially for a program in its very first semester,” said Dr. Steven Craft, Superintendent of Dalton Public Schools. “The Cyber Academy is proof that when we remove barriers, personalize learning, and trust students with meaningful opportunities, they rise to the challenge. What our students have accomplished in just a few months is nothing short of inspiring.”
The Cyber Academy was designed to provide flexible, high-quality pathways to graduation through three targeted programs—Apex, Elevate, and Resilience—each meeting students at different points in their academic journey.
The Apex program has enabled motivated, academically on-track students to accelerate their education, pursue early graduation, and begin earning college credit sooner than traditional timelines allow.
The Elevate program has delivered significant gains for students who entered the semester credit-deficient. Through a combination of virtual coursework and consistent in-person support, students have successfully recovered credits and returned to their appropriate grade level—putting them back on track to graduate with their peers.
The Resilience program is supporting students through structured, restorative, and individualized learning as they work toward successfully re-engaging academically.
Across all programs, students benefit from a blended instructional model that prioritizes flexibility while maintaining strong relationships, accountability, and individualized support.
“The Cyber Academy represents what is possible when innovation meets intention,” Dr. Craft added. “This first-semester success belongs to our students, our dedicated staff, and a district committed to reimagining how we support every learner.”
The Cyber Academy is open to high school students enrolled in Dalton Public Schools, with placement determined through an application process in partnership with school counselors and administrators to ensure the best academic fit.
