Dalton, GA – Dalton High School is now accepting nominations for the third class of its Athletics Hall of Fame, continuing a tradition of recognizing the athletes, coaches, teams, and community contributors whose accomplishments have helped shape the proud legacy of Dalton High School athletics.

Established in 2024, the Dalton High School Athletics Hall of Fame represents the highest honor bestowed by the Dalton High School Athletic Department. The Hall of Fame celebrates individuals and teams whose achievements, leadership, sportsmanship, and lasting contributions have made a significant impact on Dalton athletics and continue to inspire future generations of Catamounts.

"Nominations are one of the most important parts of this process because they allow our community to help preserve the rich history of Dalton High School athletics," said Ryan Richards, Dalton Public Schools Athletic Director. "Every athlete, coach, team, and contributor has a unique story, and we encourage anyone who knows someone deserving of this honor to take the time to submit or update a nomination."

Nominations are open now and will be accepted through August 24, 2026. The Hall of Fame Committee will announce the Class of 2026 on September 10, with inductees being honored during the annual Hall of Fame Induction Ceremony on October 22. The celebration will conclude with a special recognition during Dalton High School's home football game on October 23, giving the Dalton community an opportunity to celebrate this year's inductees.

The Dalton High School Athletics Hall of Fame accepts nominations in the following categories:

  • Former Athlete:

    Must have graduated from Dalton High School or Emery Street School at least five years prior to nomination.

  • Coach/Administrator:

    Must be retired and have served Dalton High School for a minimum of five years.

  • Community Contributor:

    Individuals who have made significant contributions to Dalton High School athletics may be nominated at any time.

  • Team:

    Historic Dalton High School athletic teams whose accomplishments and legacy have made a lasting impact on the school's athletic tradition.

Posthumous nominations are accepted in all categories.

The Hall of Fame Committee evaluates nominees based on athletic accomplishments, honors and awards, leadership, records, community involvement, sportsmanship, citizenship, and overall contributions to Dalton High School athletics. While accomplishments at all levels are considered, special emphasis is placed on achievements during an individual's high school career.

Community members are encouraged to submit detailed nominations that highlight a candidate's accomplishments and impact. Individuals who have nominated someone in previous years are also encouraged to update and resubmit nominations to ensure the Hall of Fame Committee has the most complete and current information available for consideration.

Since its inception, the Dalton High School Athletics Hall of Fame has recognized dozens of outstanding athletes, coaches, teams, and community contributors whose dedication and excellence have become part of the Catamount legacy. The Hall of Fame serves as a permanent tribute to those who have elevated Dalton High School athletics while preserving their stories for future generations.
