DALTON, GA – Junior Achievement of Georgia (JA of Georgia) is proud to announce that Gabriela Ruelas, a recent graduate from The Dalton Academy of Dalton Public Schools has been named to the third class of Nineteen Under Nineteen: Students to Watch, a statewide recognition program celebrating young people who demonstrate remarkable leadership, innovation and community impact.

Gabriela Ruelas has spent her high school years discovering that confidence does not always mean being the loudest person in the room. Once hesitant to speak in front of a crowd, Gabriela grew through 3DE by Junior Achievement into a confident communicator, thoughtful collaborator, and leader trusted to represent the program at school, district, and community events. As a four-year 3DE Ambassador, she has supported students and teachers while learning to approach challenges with flexibility, accept constructive feedback, and trust others with responsibilities she once preferred to manage herself. Her growth has been matched by achievement, from winning a case challenge as a freshman to providing leadership on a winning consultancy team as a senior. Gabriela has also applied her skills as President of her school store, helping manage a student-run coffee shop, and through a 3DE Market Days business that created and sold custom jewelry and accessories. An AP Scholar and dedicated student, she approaches her academics with the same care and determination she brings to leadership. As a first-generation college student and older sister, Gabriela is motivated by the opportunity to make her family proud and set an example for those following behind her. She plans to study psychology at the University of West Georgia, where she hopes to continue exploring her fascination with people and ultimately pursue a career as a psychometrist. Whatever direction that path takes, Gabriela hopes to become a successful Hispanic woman in her field while continuing to grow into a leader who listens, adapts, and brings out the best in those around her.

Now celebrating its third class, JA of Georgia’s Nineteen Under Nineteen: Students to Watch recognizes 19 young people from across the state who are making a difference in their schools, communities and beyond. Honorees range from middle school students to recent high school graduates and have participated in JA experiences such as JA BizTown, JA Finance Park, 3DE by Junior Achievement, JA Summer Camp, and the JA Dream Accelerator.

Gabriela will receive a scholarship to support her educational or entrepreneurial goals and will be recognized during the JA Northwest Georgia Business Hall of Fame gala on March 4, 2027.
